ABB Kent-Taylor Aquaprobe II

The Aquaprobe II is a cost effective alternative to full bore metering. It can be used with all Spectralog and Microlog 3 data loggers. The Aquaprobe II can be used on pipe sizes from 200mm to 2000mm without the need for major excavations often required by in-line metering devices.

The probe possess no moving parts, has a wide flow velocity range and is easily dismantled for quick installation. The result is a rugged and reliable device offering an effective alternative to in-line metering. An Aquamaster transmitter provides a parameter display. The transmitter is powered by user changeable batteries that also power the probe for 2.5 years.

Microlog 3 Data Logger
Casella Spectrascan's new Microlog 3 replaces the world's most successful water distribution data logger, the Microlog-L series, and now gives even higher levels of performance.
The Microlog 3 retains all the familiar features of robustness and reliability but introduces even greater levels of pressure accuracy. It also has temperature compensation built in ensuring that pressure accuracy levels are maintained irrespective of large fluctuations in ambient temperature. A high precision clock provides accurate synchronisation of data essential for co-ordinated network modelling.
When investing significant sums in network modelling it is essential that base data is accurate. The Microlog 3 guarantees better than 0.1% and typically achieves 0.04%. It is principally designed for the roving requirements of network analysis consultants.
Ideal for fast, temporary deployment on water distribution mains, it is lighter and more compact than its predecessor, the world renowned Microlog-L, with a higher sampling rate, enlarged data storage capacity and increased communications speed.

Easy communication with the client is the keynote of Microlog 3's new SPECCOM software, which has 'flat' data files that can be accessed through Microsoft Excel.

Microlog 3 is available from Casella Spectrascan through agents across the World.

FLEXIBILITY
Microlog 3 maintains the flexible Spectrascan approach of applying one logger for many applications.

Just one standard analogue socket can be connected to signals from a pressure transducer, level sensor, 4-20mA loop, 0-1V or 0-5V, without the need for additional plug-in devices or being limited to a single factory configured input.

The flow input is capable of sampling extremely high frequency input signals (up to 1000Hz) in both forward and reverse directions enabling users to increase resolution of electronic meters for improved low flow analysis without concern for data integrity at peak flows.

ACCURACY
Fitted with an integral robust pressure transducer, the Microlog 3 is calibrated to achieve a system accuracy better than 0.1%, but typically 0.04% and compensated against external temperature variations ensuring the most accurate readings are logged despite large changes in ambient temperature.

TIMING
The crystal clock used to time stamp is accurate to ± 1.2 seconds/month providing much needed confidence in exact timings of events especially when comparing results from multiple loggers.

SOFTWARE
Existing users of Spectrascan Microlog loggers will be familiar with the easy to use Spectralog DOS software package.

This is replaced by SPECCOM for Windows '95, '98 and NT and will support Microlog-L and Microlog 3 loggers seamlessly using the same communication interfaces. It will store downloaded data in common formats for analysis in spreadsheet and network modelling packages.

ON-SITE
The handheld Psion Workabout can be used on site as an alternative to a laptop computer for configuring or downloading loggers. Current values, graphing of results and daily summary data can be easily displayed.

Key Features

Summary

Druck Pressure Transducers bar 0-35

A range of very accurate, highly reliable Druck pressure transducers is available at 0-5, 0-10, 0-15 and 0-20 bar for use with Spectralog and Microlog data loggers. The transducers are very stable and each one is supplied with its own calibration certificate after calibration at our factory.

To ensure robust performance under completely submerged operating conditions a waterproof plug is fitted using a special double stage potting process. The process has built an enviable reputation for reliability over many years.

A cable length of 2 metres is supplied as standard but longer lengths are available on request. To allow pressure transducers to be easily connected to and removed from the water main under pressure we recommend a male 1/4inch BSP pressure coupling is used. This allows direct connection to a Spectrascan hydrant cap, for example.

Reliable, accurate, cost effective data logging
With ever increasing focus on the economical operation of the distribution networks, the need for accurate and reliable monitoring of flow and pressure becomes ever more important. Spectralog offers a robust and versatile range of data loggers to meet these needs - effectively and economically.

Easy on site operation
Spectralogs are easy to use in the field. They use quick release pressure couplings and strong military style connectors for flow logging. The units are robust and are fully submersible. The use of a handheld Psion Workabout simplifies site operations even further. They can provide operators with fast and accurate information transfer as well as data viewing enabling time saving 'on the spot' decisions to be taken and more efficient use of manpower.

More accurate measurement of leakage levels
Spectralog's programmable configuration memory enables additional data analysis to be carried out in-the-field. This includes a selectable time window allowing detailed focus on critical periods. This ensures more accurate determination of minimum night flow measurement at low cost.

Spectralog's total information capacity allows seamless information flow from the measurement point to the completed leakage report. The WISDOM host software allows communications to outstations to proceed in the background whilst additional tasks are run on screen. A variety of software modules can be active simultaneously for user speed and convenience.

Leakage control
The Spectralog range of data loggers includes important features such as Minimum Night Flow (MNF) determination and Pulse Interval Timing (PIT). These features help leakage managers to target skilled resource more effectively by refining DMA leakage levels down to more precise levels.

Accurate Pressure logging
The Spectralog range includes both internal and external pressure transducer options. An internal pressure transducer involves accuracy of ± 0.5% system accuracy but actual performance is typically better than ± 0.2%. An ideal tool for monitoring levels of service.

Telemetry data logging with Spectralog-T
The use of telemetry data logging provides even more benefits to the busy operator who constantly needs to know what is happening throughout the network. Autocall automatically and regularly collects data from a logger or group of loggers. High and low alarms to warn of unexpected conditions are available for flow and pressure and can be set and altered from the office PC. Autoanswer reports alarms when they occur and an alarm log records their occurrence. An audible alarm can be triggered at the PC. Up to four host PC telephone numbers can be stored in each logger.

Telemetry communication is via conventional telephone lines, important where reliable communication of crucial information is needed.

Spectralog-T incorporates an integral, self powered modem. The battery life expectancy is 5 years at 5 minutes per day on line. Battery replacement can easily be carried out by Spectrascan's skilled staff.
